Where Tar Pit Drips Its Drilled Out Vein

Least and Crested Auklets at the crowded colony at Main Talus.

And that was that.  Alaska....done.  I'm back in Ventura, California for a hot minute before I am whisked off to Wisconsin for wedding festivities.  The BB&B team is being worked into a froth-mouthed frenzy in order to make sure my affairs are all in order before I go, and for good reason.  This wedding is being advertised as reaching Star Wars-like proportions, and I have no reason to doubt that.  The reception is being held at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center (not joking...I hope they sell tee shirts...and tall cans), so hopefully I can add a few more birds to my 2010 list between drinks.  My list this year is humble (its in the low 380s right now), but between spending most of the year in Southeast Arizona and the Aleutian Islands, I think I can rightfully claim Quality over Quantity.

 The snack-sized Least Auklet.
Due to their impeccable fashion sense, its important to wear matching accoutrements when handling Leach's Storm-Petrels.

Parasitic Jaegers nested all over Buldir, but I failed in all attempts to get a decent picture of one. How embarrassing.
