Salmon With Wings

Turns out our much-maligned "rats with wings" are actually quite special. Rock Pigeons, known for eons to have remarkable navigation skills, have been discovered to be able to "sniff" their way around using their right nostril. This is a pretty remarkable discovery, seeing as aside from some vultures and the kiwis, birds are supposed to have little or no sense of smell at all. The method in which homing pigeons, and other birds, can navigate vast distances back to their home roost has always been a mystery. The implications of this are staggering (read that lin a nasal, nerdy scientist voice).

Bizarre.
